Hiller said Armstrong was selected for his strong financial background, leadership skills, and strong personal commitment to Lordstown community and schools.
''I am excited to be back at Lordstown where I have worked half of my career. I can't wait to get started. I have enjoyed my time here working with the staff, students and community,'' Armstrong said.
Hubbard board President Don Newell said Soloman was selected from 14 applicants, eight of whom were interviewed. He said Soloman was selected for his knowledge of the district, where he was worked most of his career.

School officials noted they will be looking to have a school district with one superintendent and one principal. Lordstown has two school buildings, which now each have a principal.

2 districts get new leaders
In Lordstown, Armstrong, who is a teacher with Windham Schools, was among three candidates interviewed Wednesday by the board before the selection.
Armstrong, a LaBrae graduate, is familiar with Lordstown schools, having served as a teacher and high school principal there. He also was a teacher at LaBrae schools, Trumbull Career and Technical Center and John Adidas Cap Back
Soloman, a Hubbard graduate, served eight years as Hubbard Elementary principal, three years as an assistant principal and one year as a teacher. He also taught three years in Champion schools. He received his bachelor's degree in education from Youngstown State University and master's degree from Westminster College in principal and superintendent administration.
